my BIR story. Part 1

Image
I am currently working in a hotel chain in the Philippines. As an Accountant,  the big chunk of my stress is handling BIR related concerns and meeting with the assessors . Recently, we had an assessment, I was so shock because in myself that we are paying our taxes correctly and we have good documentations and filing. If you’re handling BIR transactions, I know you can relate how bulok the system is. (There’s hope for the Philippines, clamming now!) Of course we filed a petition for reinvestigation and it was granted. As of the moment, they are under re-assessing their assessment. I was so tempted to ask my boss to just pay the assessor, since anyway we dispute (legally) with BIR, we will still pay millions in the end. But I was reminded by God for two things. 1.     It is God’s answer for my prayers .  I always ask God to give me a work that have bosses with strong moral values. Then, God bless me with this company – the number one core valu...

Surviving Sagada. Wiw!

Image
When I got married, one of my top places to visit in the Philippines is Sagada (together with El Nido, Bicol, Hundred Islands, Cagayan Valley and Coron) Way back 2009, our church had a Mission Camp at Mt. Praise Assemblies of God in Sagada, which is also affiliated in our church in Manila. We had our bible study, prayer meeting, visitations and others. Oh I must admit I missed those sometimes. Although we had our rest and recreation time, we never had the chance to try the cave connection. When we went in the mouth of the cave, it rained. They make me believe that even in the littlest rain, it is unsafe to enter in the cave. (but later I found out that this is not true) Haha. So from there on I long to try the cave connection. My longing was revived when we saw the movie “That Thing called Tadhana” when the main setting was in Baguio and in Sagada. But I never had a chance to go back to Sagada until I had my official travel buddy! Haha.  Back then, my parents won’t allow me t...

Bicol Express

My sister-in-law was married last April 26, 2017 and with that we had a chance to go to my husband’s hometown. For every one’s knowledge, my husband grew up in Pili, Camarines Sur  (hence, his love for spicy foods).  All his childhood and teen years was spent there! That is why I was so excited to see all those places where he usually go, his school, the park where he plays, their house, the bahay kubo and the river. Whenever my husband tells me stories about his childhood, I just imagine those but now I will finally be there!  Too bad I had measles and don’t have the strength to take pictures of those :( But still memories last a life time naman. ehehe As soon as I got the news that the wedding will be in Bicol, I booked a flight from Manila to Naga (which was the airport was really in PILI). Few hours before our flight, Cebu Pacific called informing us that our flight was transferred to LEGASPI airport which was 4 hour drive to PILI! Haaaaaay. Prolonging the ...

MBA Graduation

Image
I am back! Haha.. I was so overwhelmed with the busy-ness of life. Hahaha. Before, I was so busy with being a student (thesis and defense) then in our wedding preps and now being a full time employee. But since the audit season and BIR filing is already finished, I can now bounce back with life! I got so much backlogs, so much stories to share and pictures to post. Haha! Let me start in my MBA graduation. This event is very important to me. I never had a chance to wear a black toga in my college years. Don’t ask me why. Pero natapos talaga ako ng college ha. Haha! I just told to myself that since I will take further studies dun nalang ako mag toga . I know for sure that I will wear that in the near future. And there it was!!! I cannot say that my journey as an MBA student is easy. I had ups and downs as well. There would be times that I don’t want to go to school because of my terror prof. haha. Many times I asked my fiancĂ© (now my husband. Naks!) to help me...
