Last weekend the titas of manila (my high school friends  called ourselves titasofmanila  , we really don't have a group name unlike when we where in highschool) had a surprise shower party for me. The plan really was to have a despdida party for Russell, one of our friends, she decided to migrate in the US and the she will start her new journey with her fiancé. She was so brave to go alone and I admire her for that. I honestly don’t want to go or to have any gathering because it is crunch time for my thesis! I am far far far behind my schedule but I also thought that it would be our last get together so I need to open my schedule no matter what! As we all know I was engaged last February 14, 2016! See my previous  my Engagement Blog Post here.   We already announced to everyone that yes, were getting married!!! We still need to have a Pamamanhikan. It wasn't really the traditional pamamanhikan because in the Philippines, when you say pamamanhikan, this is the event when the guy/groom’s family comes to the home of the girl/bride’s family with the purpose of “asking the girl’s parents’ permission to wed the affianced pair.” A tradition that shows respect and honor for the girl’s parents before getting married.  That's why I can say that it was Pamamanhikan the Millennial Version.
